Waiheke Island; A must-see destination

On January 14, 2013, New York Times has named Waiheke Island in New Zealand one of the top must-see destinations of 2013. It comes in at number 35 on the list, which is topped by Rio de Janeiro in Brazil. The island off the coast of Auckland is seen as a bohemian oasis with art galleries and a supply of vineyards in  The 46 Places To Go in 2013. The article shows the “homegrown art scene” found on the island that also features scenic coastal path. “Long home to fine vineyards and numerous lodges and cottages, Waiheke, which is a short ferry ride from downtown Auckland, is embracing its bohemian side,” says the article.

CES 2013: A portable Xbox 360?

One of the newest products that are being shown at the Comsumer Electronics Show (CES) 2013 is a portable handheld PC gaming called the Grid from Nvida. This portable gaming device is designed for gamers who want to play when, where and how they want. It combines the horsepower of 700 and Xbox 360s into a single unit. With a full-size console-grade game controller, multi-touch display, intergrated speakers and wi-fi connectivity (!!!), we now have the Grid. And even better, it is stocked with the latest Android Jelly Bean operating system from Google. (omg..) Nivida hopes to launch this product sometime in Q2.

DIY: Sugar Cookie in a Cup

I love chocolate chip cookies but I don’t have enough time to make them myself at home. So then, I looked up quick ways to make cookies and found this cookie in a cup recipe that bakes in the microwave. I really like this recipe because it’s super quick and easy to make. AND I don’t have to use huge pans or the oven! Okay, let’s do this…!

What You Will Need:
1 tablespoon of BUTTER
1 tabelspoon of GRANULATED WHITE SUGAR
1 tablespoon of DARK BROWN SUGAR
3 drops of VANILLA EXTRACT
Pinch of SALT
1 EGG YOLK (not with the egg white)
Scant (slightly less than full) 1/4 cup of AP FLOUR
2 tablespoons of SEMI-SWEET CHOCOLATE CHIPS

1. Melt the butter in the microwave.
2. Add the white and dark brown sugars, vanilla extract and salt.
-Stir to combine.
4. Separate the egg yolk from the white, & add only the yolk to your cup.
-Stir to combine.
5. Add the flour
-Stir again.
6. Add the chocolate chips.
-Give it a final stir.
7. Cook in the microwave for 40-60 seconds, depending on the strength of your microwave.
-Check it at 40 seconds.

Sydney Opera House

https://i1.wp.com/upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/0/08/Sydney_Opera_House_Sails_edit02.jpg  If I chance to travel to any place in the world, I definitely want to go Austrailia. I really want to see wild kangaroos hoping around and koalas hanging around in trees. But I really would love to visit the Sydney Opera House in Sydney, New South Wales. I think the building is beautiful and the scenery is just great. (: (pics w/ links, YAY.)

Baboon Takes in Stray Kitten at Israeli Zoo

At a Israeli zoo, a baboon adopted a kitten who strayed into its cage and refused to leave. The baboon now cares for the kitten and rarely leaves it out of her sight. Footage show the baboon checking the kitty for fleas and caring for it as it would for its own infant. But often, the baboon can be seen stealing the cat’s food. They are definitely a pair that do not always get along. Until then, they will be a unlikely pair that will forever enjoy each other’s company.

Lovey Dovey, Dovey~

Lovey dovey, dovey oh-oh-oh-oh~
On April 2, 2012, St.319, a dance group from Vietnam, uploaded a dance cover of Lovey Dovey by T-ara. The cover has almost 2 million views and over 25,000 likes. I really liked how they added a storyline with the song; it was very cutesy and the dance was well executed, too. It complemented well with the ear-catching melody of the song. I don’t know about you but my favorite part is the “lovey dovey, dovey oh-oh-oh-oh~” (:

3 Useful & Educational Apps

With thousands of many educational apps for your smart phone or tablet, how could there possibly be a limit on learning opportunities at your fingertips? — I looked around Apple’s App Store on iTunes and found a few apps that had good 5-star ratings and reviews. These apps seemed to be very educational and beneficial to a lot of people from what I’ve read in the reviews.

Alpha Writer — This app aims for younger children and teaches them the basic foundations of language. They can also learn how to read, write and spell with fun illustrations and dynamic interactions. Some say Alpha Writer is “an exceptional app” and “kids love it”.

Scales & Modes — An interactive audio and visual reference for diatonic scales and modes that are fundamental in music. You can see fingerings, view major and minor modes and listen to the scales. One person said that it’s the “best and clearest way to understand and study”.

Frog Dissection — This app is especially suitable for middle school students who are learning about organs and organ systems as a part of their life science subject. They can try dissecting a virtual frog as if it was like a real procedure, but without the mess. I’ve actually tried this app; I thought it was super cool and interesting to look at all the organs.
